These buildings line the canals of York in a section of the city where the walls have never been. Until recently, the area has been either a marsh, a large pond for fish for the lord of the city, and as such, the spread of water was considered an adequate defensible barrier. The area has some interesting buildings and structures, and the afternoon sun adds its own touch of atmosphere. The brick building here is an old chocolate factory and would load and unload ships with ingredients and merchandise.
